Yesterday we talked about peace as a fruit of the Spirit. It occurs naturally in the lives of those who belong to Jesus. This kind of peace protects us from the devastating effects of life in a broken world. But even before we experience peace as a fruit of the Spirit, we experience an even more important peace: peace with God. Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The first and most important peace is a right relationship with our Creator. We always talk about world peace in terms of foreign relations. The most urgent world peace is a peace between this world and its Creator. Through Jesus this peace is available to our world and given to those who belong to God. Jesus has removed the obstacles (sin) between us and God. There is no more enmity between us. You are at peace with God.
