Filter of Hope Trip
Late in October, we unveiled our 2023 Kingdom Investment and the ways we are giving back with what God has blessed us. One of the projects we are undertaking as part of this is sending a team of FCC members on a mission trip to Central America through Filter of Hope. Check out the video to learn more. Also below, you will be able to find answers to many of your pre-trip questions as well as information on how to sign up. If you're interested in signing up for the mission trip, you can do so by clicking here.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can go? Should I consider going?
This trip is open to those of age 12 & up. If you feel comfortable being active and on your feet for much of the day and are looking for a transformative experience, you should absolutely consider going!
Where are we going?
We will be traveling to Central America. Specifically, we will travel to either Guatemala or Costa Rica.
What will we be doing on the trip?
According to Filter of Hope, our mornings and afternoons will be spent connecting with families in the communities of our church partners; getting to know them; providing them with a water filter; and sharing the gospel. Evenings will be spent regrouping and checking in with our FCC team about our experiences and how the Lord is working. There will always be a few special surprises Filter of Hope tries to throw in that allow our team to see and experience the local culture.
When is the trip?
Our first trip will be over the week of Spring Break. Spring Break dates are March 31-April 9. Easter is April 9, and we will be back in Michigan before Easter. If there is enough interest, there is potential for a trip over the summer as well.
How much does this cost?
It will cost about $2,000 per person, with airfare being the largest expense. The Kingdom Investment fund will cover many of the expenses, and there will be opportunities to fundraise as well. If you are interested in going on the trip but are concerned about the cost, please reach out to Kyle Mullin.
What will housing be like? Is it safe? Can my dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Filter of Hope provides accommodations designed to allow you to rest and refuel. All housing is clean and secure in safe neighborhoods. Most bedrooms have air conditioning unless lodging is at higher altitudes with cooler temperatures. The food is safe, incredibly delicious, and dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Filter of Hope also supplies plenty of bottled water to stay hydrated and use when brushing teeth.
How can I sign up to go on the trip?
You can sign up by filling out this form.
How soon do I need to make a decision?
If you are interested in going, you will need to commit to the trip by December 21. A down payment of $100 is due upon signing up. These can be cash or checks made out to Ferrysburg Community Church.
